The funeral director's charge is made up of two components:

Your choice of coffin or casket

The funeral director service charge 

All services provided by a funeral director, as well as the specialised equipment and facilities required to prepare and conduct funeral services, make up the service charge. It is important to understand which services are included within a funeral director’s service charge.

Our funeral director service charge includes:  

• assistance with choosing a coffin or casket
• caring staff dedicated to meeting your needs and expectations, 24 hours a day, seven days a week
• sensitive and professional transfer of the deceased into our care at any time
• respectful laying out, preparation and presentation of the deceased person with dignity and care
• expert advice and information relating to all aspects of the funeral service
• making arrangements with your nominated representative or Executor
• liaison with service providers (including celebrants, clergy, cemeteries, florists, medical staff, registrar's office, coroner, crematoria, newspapers, caterers, printers, hire cars)
• provision of specialised staffing, facilities, equipment and vehicles at the viewing, funeral and committal services
• preparation and lodgement of registration details and securing of the death certificate.

The main difference between one funeral director and another will be the services they include in the service charge - limitations may be placed on specific services, hours of business, location and length of services.

You are encouraged to ask your funeral director exactly what they include, and do not include, in their service charge – because most of the tasks are performed 'behind the scenes' we encourage you to ask what you are paying for. Please contact us now so we can answer your questions.

Further costs associated with a funeral may include:

• medical and registrar costs
• cemetery or crematoria costs
• other payments (disbursements) made on your behalf (eg. flowers, newspaper notices, catering, hire cars etc).
